1st February 2009 - Hell of the Ashdown

06:30am - Wake up
  • 8 hours sleep
  • Heart Rate 58 / 76
  • Weight 76.5kg
Tired but well rested. No anxiety about the ride today, looking forward to it regardless of the weather warnings. Strange dream about Dad being at the start to wish me well...

08:35am - 67 Miles / 4 Hours 27 Mins / Hilly / Steady

Bike - Tricross standard setup

Light breakfast, not feeling too bad. Felt good on Kidds Hill, got into a good rythym and controlled breathing. First 50 miles just had gels and energy drink so felt a little tired. Kept a 85-95 cadence for the majority of the ride. Struggled on Ide Hill so ate energy bar at the top. Last 15-20 was flying, felt strong on last climb and plenty of energy. At finish felt like I could have done more and was looking forward to the next climb! Enormous appetite that evening at Geoff Wiles place.
